TOPIC: New amp idea

New amp idea 2 years ago #13700

i have been thinking about running a XT 6004 as a bridged pair into 4 scoops

as we have found out this places great strain on the amp

so i got thinking that you could add more fans, maybe a double psu, etc but ten i thought why dont you run two ab amps on four scoops

we have been doing this with thomann proline 3000 with great success

but the current matrix 2 channel ab amp range only has XT1000 & XT2000 - which are low power

so my question is are there any plans for a possible ab class XT3000 [or XT2500] which would give the sme or slightly more power then one side of the XT6004?

Heathy, One of the problems with the heat from the amp, is that it is class AB which many will tell you that this class is far better for sound than any other practical class, I exclude class A. I'm about to put fans in my rack to help the situation. If you are referring to the amp at the shootout, it may be that it was the un-modified version that was the original starting point for my amp. My amp was fixed so that it was slightly less power, but 35% better on the heat situation. My current amp produces 3.5K into 4 ohms per side minimum.
The reason I'm joining in here is to say that if you want to try the amp, you can.

i think the heat situation is an easy one to fix

but i have always preferred running two amps on bass rather then one big one

it costs slightly more but i think it offers me peace of mind

but going back to the original post i think there is room for a big ab class amp in the range

also i think that this new big ab class amp should have the classic matrix fan layout of old... so one of the left and one on the right

Tony as you brought up the amp on test i think that the metal work needs to be redesigned.

as i had some time on my hands i had a look at the matrix website and the amp manuals

The XTXXX4EQ range {i think] should probably be used only for mid-to duty. as you have all the crossover gubbins

The XTXXX4 range could benefit from some small fans to exhaust some of the heat that is not removed by the main fans.

The The XTXXX4 could then be the bass amp range

you could even put a fan on the powersupply like they do in computers

it might be a thought to invest in a environmental chamber so yo can test the amps in hot/cold/humid conditions to ascertain whether the cooling is adequate
