idiots what drivers? what driver size for??
by bee
jim the baffle cutout is 42.2cm, thats just under 17 inches, so the driver would be an 18 inch..... Marc the designer i think uses rcf drivers in alot of his designs.......
just built one of these and just waiting to get the driver (when i can afford it!)

couldn't wait so i fitted a generic chinese driver for some bass reflexes i had kicking around and i must say its very impressive , gives an almighty thump! dont know the t/s parameters of these drivers so i eased the volume up slowly giving the driver around 600watt and it was very controlled (no flapping about)!

so can probs wait for the rcf for a while because these sound pretty good!

very nice plan , seems quite forgiving on driver choice too!
Just had a chat with Marc and he told me a list of fane drivers that will work in this cab as they are cheaper than rcf in Britain!

you can simulate MBP-46 for speaker NNV-181 T/S Parameter Fs 30 Hz Re 7 Ohm Qms 6.8 Qes 0.80 Qts 0.38 BL 27.63 Tm Mms 238 Gram Vas 280 Liters Sd 0.128 m2 Eff 1.7 % Le 3.7 mHhttp://www.nanovaspeaker.com/po_show.php?pop=prod_show&catid=89&pdid=27thank you .....

The parameters of this driver are wrong. The Qts can't be 0.38 with a Qes of 0.80, so impossible to simulate this driver without correct values.

jjd this is the parameter of it. icon_wave.gif

thank alot somo.

seems credible. If the parameters are right, I think you can use it in the MBP-46 (even if the Qts is a bit high)
Thank jjd.
Has anyone other than me built these cabs on this forum, be nice to hear there veiws on them and what they loaded them with! I love them because the smallish and give out a hell of a thump , perfect for most events indoors and outdoor!

I have heard some with 18G401. They sound nice.

Pics from the french forum audiofanzine:

I'm looking to get mine loaded with fane sb or rcf 18n401 (if I can get the funds) , but would be nice to hear these with the void but don't think they will fit!
joe a few pics from thailand. my friend had built about 3 months ago. the size is very small but the sound is very big. be careful when install driver, please check before do. one problem the magnet can touch the back panel of the box. my friend installed p audio C18-650EL old series. the sound is quite good. smiley20.gif

Thats why I metioned about the void , magnet would hit the back panel! Best off going neo just to be sure! IV got mine loaded with cheap replicas at the mo out of some old br I had , does the job nice but would like more power! These cabs have a very pronouned kick to them , I cross mine up to 150hz and let the 12+1 take it from there! Lovely cabs these! The designer told me on email that the fane b600 would have the best efficiency other than rcf , but most drivers seem told work well!
if u use fane driver u can adjust the deep dimension more than the original about 2-3 cm. the respond frequency doesn't change too much. icon_wave.gif
my pics when mbp46 made a job in ordination ceremony day. my friend did use mbp46+the old bp6. the both worked great in the little job.

notch a v shape in to the rear panel will only need to be about 6mm...... if my maths are correct.....
Hi watch

The mbp-46 in the pic being used for kick?

Woulnt have thought u need to as the mbp plays down to the low 40's hz!

The horn on the mpb plays evil with the kick , on the mesurments it around 103-105db 1w/1m. From around 70- 150hz!

Love the evilness of short horns smiley1.gif
icon_lol.gif Joe my friend got the job, he only got a little money. the 18 mbp46 only had two bins. when did use them they seem the bass scale was not enough for this job. he must double the bp6 together. yes let's the mbp46 go down to 40 hz as the same with bp6. these mbp46 installed p audio c18-650el old series. i simed this cab before built. you can see on this link.

I see in the tread that u simmed for 15" drivers , are they in the same size box?

Because the sim is not far off the 18"!
the size of 15 drv is smaller than 18 drv. and if u see the specs of them. 15 and 18 the sensitivity are not difference too much. thats the reason why they are not far off. see the pic that i compare between p audio e15-300s new series and c18 650el
How much smaller is the 15" version , could be interesting?
joe please check the dimension on the plan. i did model with P audio P15/2226 new version. but my when sim with e15-300s new series. it works great as the same. e15-300s is very cheap. some friends don't have much money. but they can buy e15-300s to use. when tested it with 15mbp46. it works the best as the same. the dimension u can compare with the 18 by ur self.
