I decided to open up the box with a crowbar and hammer to make the required changes for it to have more control low down in the 30hz to 50hz.
The mk 2 seems to play a lot better down low and i feel it was certainly worth the hassle of taking it apart.
Heres a video which shows the cone moving. The mk 1 would flap like mad but this one seems to handle the music with minimal flapping.
I will try to test it more throughly in a week or two
Another positive with the mk 2 is that there is a lot more output coming from the horn.
I think im happy with the design now to make a batch!

Hi HBL any news on progress with this?
Starting to think about doing something with my RELs - how is this coming along?
Any measurements? How does it compare with the same driver in its intended sealed box?

I made a pair of little scoops very similar with 10"s. Scaled it down from the eminence scoop plans, but I modified a few things that in hindsight were probably better left alone. See my avatar. It works pretty well in its range, which was decent for a kick. Cuts off at about 62Hz and goes pretty well up to 230hz. Couple of resonating bumps at 90hz and 150 hz but easily fixed with a little subtractive eq. Above 230 hz it gets freq resp is kinda messy. Definitely not a sub, but was a fun project. Would be particularly useful if I had 4, alas... don't love it enough to make more. Mostly it was an experiment to see if I could pull off the folded build.
