Just been checking the specs on the Stanton website for some of their carts and stylii.
Frequency range on some was 20Hz to 15kHz.
For some reason I though they would go above 20kHz.
So it got me wonderirn how much quality are vinyl dj's loosing compared to cd dj's. Is anything above 15kHz that noticable to the general public at a gig.
Also as a side note, I am looking to buy some headshells, carts, and stylii. They are for club use. What would you recomment.
Thank.

You'd be surprised at how many people can't hear above 15k or even lower, and by the end of a night of loud music, it would probably go down to 8k. Life's a bitch.

Get some decent carts...... Ortofon have a digital specific cart that does 20 - 20,000 and there club stylus do 20 - 22,000. I'm sure there are many other good manufacturers of carts out there i personally use ortofon, although quite expensive i think the sound quality is great and the vinyl wear isn't too bad either, although the old concordes i had used to eat vinyl.....

Out of interest, would that have a balance/weight problem, or do you think it was the profile of the stylus?

Too much weight, i was learning to scratch at the time so had most my weights wound fully in. I found after about a week or 2 of use the needles had worn sufficiently and didn't eat the vinyl.

+1 for Ortfon Concordes. Have used them for years now, great sound quality. Never had a problem with vinyl wear too but that maybe due to my light cueing touch... I use their elliptical stylus. If you heavy handed with your cueing/scratching, go for the spherical stylus.

eliptical stylii will eat thru vinyl if played on a regular basis, but sound quality is top.

What do you guys think of the Stanton 505 v3's
I need to buy another pair of headshells, and the Stantons come as a pachage with headshells. So they don't workout too expensive.
